GARDENING IS GOOD FOR THE SOUL
Gardening Bee every Wednesday from 3 to 4 p.m. near the front entrance to school.  Bring trowels, gloves, trowels, etc.  There is lots of weeding and watering to be done.  And a big thanks to all the great kids who helped out last Wednesday while they were waiting for their bus to arrive!
More gardening volunteers are needed Sunday, Oct. 5 at 10 a.m. to help complete Mr. Geiser’s raised bed vegetable garden behind his classoom (near the little playground).  Thanks to Javier Montesinos, father of 1st grader Jack, for helping Mr. Geiser build the raised bed last weekend.

THERE’S STILL TIME TO KEEP IT SIMPLE!
If you haven’t donated to the PTA fundraiser yet, please do so now.  We would like to meet our goal of $4000, but we are not there yet.  Remember:  100% of your tax-deductible gift goes directly to the PTA to help your child and all of our children have a wonderful experience at Brentwood.  If you simply can’t donate right now, please go online and join the PTA.  Dues are $6.  The more members we have, the stronger our voice.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT (NNO)
NNO is Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Look for block parties near your house or sign up to host one!  It’s a great way to meet your neighbors and find out more about how the city is working to prevent crime in your neighborhood.  For more information visit:  http://www.cityofaustin.org/police/nno.htm

WALKING TO SCHOOL IS COOL
Wednesday, Oct. 8 is International Walk to School Day.  So many Brentwood students walk or bike to school each day, why not celebrate it and encourage more to participate?  If you would like to help promote this fun event, please contact Lisa Roe at lwroe@grandecom.net.  You can find ideas at http://www.walktoschool.org.
